Big City Indians started in 1997 with quite an exceptional intention: They aimed at mixing contemporary roots rock, pop, folk with Native American sound. These endeavors resulted in a Rock/Folk-Band, producing soulful songs and focusing on World Music. Big City Indians' very special and outstanding blend of global and western style also attracted the attention from the Music Industry: In 2010 as well as in 2011 the Big City Indians won two Native American Music Awards. Wolfsheart Big City Indians Lead Musician and Vocalist, had the pleasure of receiving the Award in New York in 2010 for the Band’s album "Tribal Vision" and in 2011 for the solo release "The Call Of The Canyons". The Native American Music Awards -“Nammys” are the Native American equivalent of the Grammys. Four studio albums, several CD`Compilations, the DVD: "Live Rising Spirit" and many successful live shows in Europe and US verify the magnetic energy of the Band’s concept: Based in Vienna, Big City Indians created a unique and characteristic sound of their own, thus founding not only a strong reputation, but also a very loyal fan base. THE MUSIC:
Big City Indians call their emotional energetic sound “Native Indian Power Groove”. The Band has been spreading this unique groove since 1997. The quintet has adopted an original sound and created a wider range of melodies with traditional elements. The mixture of a touch of rock´n roll, roots, fusion, blues and solid songwriting continues to attract numerous fans. Big City Indian presenst a groove for all senses, full of strong sounds with tribal beats, mystic ethereal keyboards, rocking riffs, mysterious whisper of Native American flute, funky basslines, meditative sounds and grooving guitar thus creating a melting pot of sounds deeply grounded in the earth, reaching out to the heart and speaking the common language of mankind. Big City Indians made history in Native American Music being the first European ever to achieve the prestigious Native Heart of the Year award at the 12th and 13th annual Native American Music Awards.

LYRICAL PHILOSOPHY:
The aim of the group is to create music between energy and emotion, between ethnic elements and a smooth rock´n roll beat, music straight from the soul. Quoting lead vocalist, flute player and bandleader Wolfsheart: "We think it is extremely interesting to explore a world which is conctantly changing, like musical sounds, which were created in the past together with myths and legends. Our native sound adapts to the life and time we live in. Our lyrics show a part of Native American life, its myths, its spiritual world and how we feel about it. This is a very important issue for us. The story of the Native American culture consists of ancient knowledge and its relationship to Mother Earth. We also stand for freedom and acceptance of the Native American as a vital part of our world's historical culture."
